Elgin Cosmopolitan Club awards funding to groups at annual dinner

Submitted by Larkin Center

Members and guests of the Elgin Cosmopolitan Club gathered together on June 11 for the club's annual awards dinner. This year, the Larkin Center in Elgin, with executive director Dennis Graf, was one of the many recipients to receive an award.

The funding will renew memberships to The Centre of Elgin for the diabetic and prediabetic clients to receive needed daily physical activity. Larkin Center also will receive the assistance from an outside dietitian to provide one-on-one education on healthy eating for kids. They will purchase specialized scales for each of group homes and the nursing offices will be able to purchase updated drug handbooks.

Other organizations who received funding from the Elgin Cosmopolitan Club included Association for Individual Development, Ecker Center for Mental Health, PADS of Elgin, Prairie Valley YMCA, Senior Services Associates, and the Sherman Hospital Rescue Fund.

The Larkin Center thanks the Elgin Cosmopolitan Club for supporting its mission, “Teaching Skills, Changing Lives” as well as supporting so many other local organizations who are striving to educate and offer preventive care for those with diabetes.
