Sveum takes optimistic view of Cubs' second half

The Cubs begin the unofficial second half of the season this weekend in Colorado. Manager Dale Sveum says he sees several reasons for optimism, including the starting rotation and improved play by Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo.

At a glance: The Cubs took two of three from the Rockies, May 13-15 at Wrigley Field. The Rockies are 26-21 at Coors Field but only 20-29 on the road. Michael Cuddyer has a hitting line of .330/.391/.568. Carlos Gonzalez leads the Rockies with 25 homers, and Troy Tulowitzki has 16 homers and an OPS of 1.008. Former Cub DJ LeMahieu is at .265/.318/.348 with a homer and 12 RBI. The Rockies are second in the NL in runs scored and homers and first in slugging percentage. However, they are last in ERA (4.19) while the Cubs are 10th (3.94). This begins a tough 10-game road trip for the Cubs, who travel to Arizona and San Francisco next week.
