Heritage Presbyterian Church Calls a New Pastor

Heritage Presbyterian Church of Carol Stream has unanimously called Victor Elliot Harris to become the permanent Pastor of the 150 person congregation. Victor started with the church on July 15, and will be Ordained and Installed in a service on August 3, 2013 at the church.

Victor comes to Heritage by way of Princeton Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity Degree in 2012, and a Master of Theology (Homiletics) in 2013. Victor grew up in Houston, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Master of Finance from Texas A&M. He served as an Associate with Deloitte & Touche, LLP.

Regarding his call, Victor said, “God, rather inconveniently, called me to a life in ministry; I say inconveniently because I had made other plans for my life. I had a career in business and my wife and I had just purchased our first home. We had plans for our future, and none of them involved seminary, life as a pastor, or moving across the country and away from everything we knew. I have quickly learned, however, that when God calls, obedience is the best, and maybe only, response - I have never heard someone speak regretfully of the time they obeyed God's call.”

Victor has been married to wife Jennifer since 2006. Jennifer, also from the Houston area, is an elementary school teacher who enjoys running and just completed a half marathon. He and Jenn feel they are being called together to serve.

As the call to Heritage is his first since leaving Seminary, Victor will be Ordained as a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and Installed as the Pastor in a service at 09:30 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Officials from the Chicago Presbytery, pastors from other local churches and Victor's family will celebrate with the Heritage congregation as he begins his ministry in Carol Stream.

Heritage is located just across the street from Glenbard North High School at 965 Kuhn Road, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
