Person of interest identified in Illinois boy’s hit-and-run death

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Investigators in southwestern Illinois’ St. Clair County are asking for the public’s help in locating a teenager they consider a person of interest in the hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports that authorities want to question the 17-year-old boy in connection with the death of Fabian Teason, who was struck by a vehicle last week while cycling near Cahokia.

Teason later died at a St. Louis hospital.

There’s no immediate word on any charges.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department or Illinois State Police.
