DuPage United pushes for manufacturing boost

Nearly 150 representatives from DuPage religious institutions, schools, nonprofit agencies and businesses are expected to come together Tuesday to encourage elected leaders to “make the county work again,” organizers from DuPage United said Monday.

The group will meet at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, to ask elected leaders to invest to recruit, connect and train workers for good-paying manufacturing jobs.

DuPage United is a nonprofit group that works to tackle issues facing the community.

Based on its research, group members say there are 1,695 manufacturing companies in DuPage that employ 52,000 people whose average salaries and benefits total roughly $77,500.
