Collective Soul coming to Naperville’s Last Fling

Collective Soul, a platinum-selling rock band from Atlanta, will perform as the headliner Sunday, Sept. 1, at the foot of Rotary Hill during the Naperville Jaycees Last Fling celebration in downtown Naperville.

The band has sold more than 10 million albums and won its first major recognition with the 1993 release of “Shine.”

Over the past 20 years, Collective Soul has released several chart-topping hits such as “The World I Know,” “Where The River Flows,” “Listen” and “Heavy.” The band plans to release its eighth studio album next year.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. on the Fling’s Main Stage near the downtown Riverwalk. Main Stage entertainment tickets will be available for purchase at locations that will be announced shortly.

Last Fling organizers last week announced the Goo Goo Dolls will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the festival.

The annual Labor Day weekend celebration includes a business expo on Jackson Avenue, a carnival, the main stage, a free entertainment stage and Family Fun Land on the grounds of Naper Settlement.

The fest also will offer a meet-and-greet with a Disney star yet to be named and a dunk tank to soak local elected officials, along with the iconic Bed Races featuring a team of “Nuns on the Run.”
