Lake Zurich ready for Pro-Life Action League demonstrators

Lake Zurich police say they’re prepared for the return of the Pro-Life Action League’s Face the Truth tour.

Cmdr. David Bradstreet said members of the organization of abortion opponents plan to demonstrate from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at Rand Road and Route 22. Demonstrators are expected to be holding signs with graphic depictions of aborted fetuses juxtaposed with babies, extending north, south, east and west from the intersection.

“We do extra details on this,” Bradstreet said Friday.

There were no problems at last year’s demonstration, he said. Lake Zurich police will monitor the expected 75 demonstrators and advise where they can display their signs as pedestrians.

On Monday, said Bradstreet, signs will go up on all sides of Route 22 and Rand Road warning passers-by about the planned demonstration and how graphic images might be seen from the busy roads. The signs will note that pedestrians and motorists should be prepared to alter their route if they want to avoid the demonstration.

“We get tons of calls on this,” Bradstreet said

It’s the Pro-Life Action League’s 14th annual Face the Truth tour. After the stop in Lake Zurich, the tour is slated to move to Rand and Dundee roads in Palatine from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., then to Rand and Arlington Heights roads in Arlington Heights from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
