Elgin man gets 12 years for sexual abuse

An Elgin man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to having sexual contact with two minors he knew, prosecutors said.

Luis A. Gonzalez, 56, of the 200 block of Summit Street, pleaded guilty Friday to criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse for having sexual contact with two victims under the age of 18 between June 2005 and March 2010, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Gonzalez, formerly of Chicago, was sentenced to nine years in prison for the criminal sexual assault conviction and three years for the aggravated criminal sexual abuse conviction.

He has been held in Kane County jail since his arrest in lieu of $150,000 bail.
