Elgin Veterans of Foreign Wars host ‘Third Wednesdays’ for employment opportunities

The Elgin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1307, 1601 Weld Road, hosts “Third Wednesdays” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. It is open to the public. There will be presentations and job interviews for veterans, their spouses and those interested in veteran issues.
The presentations include: “Beginning Your College Career” presented by Annabelle Rhoades, associate dean of Academic Support of Elgin Community College, and Arielle Kalvelage, senior admissions counselor of Northern Illinois University. There will be information on applications, programs of study, veterans services, preparation for testing, transferrin,; testing requirements and career services.
Job tables with representatives from businesses will be there to discuss the possibility of employment: Melissa Ziel, Job Hunting Section, Gail Borden Library; Zaara Norten, Employee Relations Manager, Grand Victoria Casino; and James Harkins, Evanston Vet Center, Global War on Terrorism Outreach Tech and retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer.
