Nominations open for Arlington Heights Cultural Arts Award

The Village of Arlington Heights Arts Commission is calling for nominations for its third annual Arlington Heights Cultural Arts Award. The award will celebrate achievements in arts produced by artists, writers and performers in the Arlington Heights community.

The goal of the award is to assist in building on the sense of pride and community in the village, especially among the artists who reside and work in Arlington Heights. With this award, the Arts Commission also hopes to inspire future generations of artists. The selection process will be administered by the Arts Commission.

Criteria for the award selection include:

Nominees with a past or present relationship with the Arlington Heights community in some way, such as residence, education or work.

Nominees directly responsible for the creation of substantial and accomplished creative work in any medium, including visual art, film, television, video, music, dance, theater and all forms of literature.

Nominees with a substantial resume and accomplished work in their field, including local, regional, national and international achievements.

Recommendations will be gathered for the first eight months of 2013. Any person may submit a nominee by completing the recommendation form. Deadline for submissions is Friday, August 30, 2013.

The Arlington Heights Cultural Arts Award will include the presentation of a trophy at a public ceremony as well as a formal announcement of the accomplishments of the winner.
