Arrest made in Oak Brook break-ins

A 46-year-old Chicago man is facing a burglary charge in connection with several commercial break-ins along 22nd Street in Oak Brook.

Gerald Carey, of the 9900 block of South Wentworth Avenue, was taken into custody Monday by authorities, Oak Brook police announced on Thursday. Carey has been charged with one count of burglary.

Police said Carey is accused of entering office suites and removing cellphones, iPads, laptops, wallets and purses. They didn’t say when or exactly where the burglaries happened.

The arrest was the result of investigators discovering that Carey was involved in several similar burglaries in surrounding jurisdictions, police said.

Carey was being held Thursday at the DuPage County jail on $150,000 bond.

Because the investigation is ongoing, Oak Brook police are asking anyone with information about the burglaries to contact them at (630) 368-8701.
