New state mobile website available in emergencies

Illinoisans can now use their smartphones or tablets to get information on emergency preparedness or where to get help in a disaster.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency says it has activated a new mobile version of its Ready Illinois website. The site is m.ready.illinois.gov. It has information about disasters, hazards and emergency preparedness and recovery.

Jonathon Monken is director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. He says the mobile website will be particularly helpful during disasters. He says it will allow people to get real-time updates about road closures, shelters and other critical information.

In addition to general preparedness information, the site includes a “How Do I?” section. It provides quick information on more than 40 topics, including pet emergency preparedness.
