Madigan nears $5 million in fundraising

Attorney General Lisa Madigan has raised close to $5 million for her next campaign. But she’s not yet saying whether she’ll use the money to run for governor or to seek another term as Illinois attorney general.

Reports filed with the state Monday show Madigan took in about $613,000 in large donations between April and June. That’s in addition to the $4.3 million the Chicago Democrat had on hand going into the second quarter.

Madigan has said she is “seriously considering” challenging Gov. Pat Quinn in the 2014 Democratic primary. Former White House chief of staff Bill Daley also has said he is seeking the Democratic nomination.

Madigan has raised more money than Quinn or Daley. She told WBBM radio Monday she’s still undecided about whether to run for governor.
