McQuail’s homer boosts Boomers

Steve McQuail’s walk-off solo home run lifted the Schaumburg Boomers to a 3-2 victory over the River City Rascals on Friday night before the team’s third straight crowd over 3,000 at Boomers Stadium.

Jordan Dean of the Boomers (25-19) had tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the sixth. For the second straight game, Dean collected 3 hits.

Boomers left-hander Danny Jimenez left with an elbow injury after throwing just 16 pitches. Reliever Chris Armstrong worked 4 innings, allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, and Tony Delmonico pitched 213 scoreless innings to set up a victory for Devon Peason, his first of the season. Dexter Price earned his fifth save with a scoreless ninth.

The Boomers host the Rascals today at 6 p.m. when right-hander Cody Griebling (4-4, 5.72) faces righty Casey Barnes (2-2, 3.50) of the Rascals.
