Antioch man held on predatory sexual assault charges
A 27-year-old Antioch man remain jailed Wednesday on charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
Evan A. Staron, of the 27000 block of Grass Lake Road, was held on $100,000 bail in the McHenry County jail. He must post 10 percent, or $10,000, of that amount to be released.
According to McHenry County Sheriff’s police, an investigation began on June 2 when a victim reported she had been sexually assaulted and/or abused by Staron from 2007 to 2009 when she was under the age of 13.
A warrant was issued and Staron was taken into custody in Antioch on June 27. He was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X felony that carries a prison term on conviction of 6 to 30 years.
The investigation continues and additional charges may be forthcoming, according to the sheriff’s office.
“We do have a belief he may have victimized other people,” said Sheriff’s Police Lt. James Popovits. Staron’s next court date is July 22.
