Two Chicago men have been charged with the armed robbery of a Radio Shack store near Lombard -- one of several similar robberies the pair is suspected of committing in Chicago and the suburbs, authorities said Wednesday.
Antuoine Adams, 38, and Ronaldo C. Crawford, 33, both of the 8700 block of Bishop Street in Chicago, were arrested June 27 on Chicago's South Side, just hours after police were called to a Radio Shack in Des Plaines for a report of an armed robbery, police said.
Des Plaines police said they were able to track the suspects through a tracking device on one of the electronics they had stolen.
DuPage County sheriff's department authorities said the pair took more than $40,000 in cash and merchandise on June 5 from the Radio Shack store at 18W435 Roosevelt Road in an unincorporated area near Lombard.
A third man was arrested in connection with the Des Plaines robbery, but isn't being implicated in the Lombard robbery.
Police believe they may have committed similar armed robberies in Elgin, Niles, and Chicago dating back to March.
Crawford and Adams are being held in the Cook County jail on charges from Des Plaines, though a $500,000 bond was also issued in DuPage County.
