Boomers bring the bats in bounce-back win

The host Schaumburg Boomers rebounded from an extra-inning defeat to roll past the Lake Erie Crushers 11-4 on Saturday night.

Trailing 2-0 after a first inning 2-run double from Lake Erie’s Daniel Bowman, the Boomers took the lead with 3 runs in the second. Sean Mahley notched his second triple of the year to tie the contest and scored moments later.

The Boomers never trailed the rest of the night, plating multiple runs in four different innings.

Gerard Hall finished with 4 hits while Steve McQuail drilled his eighth homer of the season in the fifth and finished with 3 hits. Mahley drove home 3 runs and appeared on the mound as well.

Mike Giovenco evened his record at 3-3 by throwing a season-high 623 innings. The righty allowed 4 runs on 7 hits with 5 strikeouts.
