Dist. 220 standouts to lead Barrington 4th parade

Several accomplished District 220 students will join the grand marshal of the 2013 Barrington Fourth of July parade, Elaine Silets, in leading the 2013 parade.

Ÿ The Barrington High School Robotics Club: Only in its second year, Team 5200 competed in the elite world championships this past April in St. Louis. The Robotics Team also will help with the design and building of the village float.

Ÿ Meg Metha: The Illinois winner and a national finalist in the 2013 Doodle 4 Google art competition. Meg’s piece, “If I could have this all — it would be the best day ever” will be displayed in a special exhibit at the American Museum of National History in New York.

Ÿ Pranav Sivakumar: Came in second in this year’s Scripps National Spelling Bee, and also won for Best Research Paper and best-in-category project in astronomy in the junior division of the Illinois Junior Academy of Science.

The July Fourth parade theme is “America — Land of Hopes and Dreams; Homegrown in Barrington.” It will begin at 10 a.m. July 4, at Barrington High School, going to the train station, The Parade Committee is holding a food drive on the day of the parade to benefit local food banks.
