Abbott, Bandits earn 1-0 victory over Pride

In a battle for first place, the host Chicago Bandits edged the USSSA Pride 1-0 in the opener of a four-game series Thursday night in Rosemont.

The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the seventh when Amber Patton reached first on an error, Vicky Galindo singled and Tammy Williams reached to load the bases. Kimi Pohlman, who had doubled in the third, hit an infield grounder as Patton scored the game-winner.

Monica Abbott notched her third win of the season for the Bandits (7-2), striking out 13. Sarah Pauly was the hard-luck loser for the Pride (6-3).
