One injured in overnight rollover crash in Arlington Heights

Crews were still fixing a traffic light in Arlington Heights Wednesday morning after a man hit the electrical pole and flipped his car in an accident overnight.

Arlington Heights police and fire responded to a one-vehicle crash on South Arlington Heights Road near the I-90 interchange around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, said Police Captain Kenneth Galinksi.

A 76-year-old man was driving southbound on Arlington Heights Road past the Elk Grove Township office when he nodded off at the wheel and hit the electrical pole. His pickup truck flipped over, but he only sustained minor injuries in the crash, Galinski said.

The man was transported to Northwest Community Hospital with an arm injury.
