Our state’s in a sorry state

Guess what? The wonderful state of Illinois is now No. 1 in food stamp use. That is something to be really proud of, right?

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says 15.7 percent of this state’s population is now signed up for food stamps. In fact, the USDA’s latest data show that 2 million residents were in SNAP in 2013 in February and 1.8 million were in it as of February 2012. That is a 10.5 percent increase.

Other Illinois lowlights include: 1) deficit growth of $17 million per day due to underfunded pensions, 2) teacher pensions the worst funded in the country, 3) job killing due to lawsuits making us one of the worst in the country, 4) more foreclosures than any other state, 5) a 49th ranking as the worst debtor state in the union, 6) 48th worst for business, 7) 48th for unemployment.

Does it not make you proud to be part of the Chicago political process and loving the Democratic way of running our state? It’s no wonder so many people are leaving.
