Wheeling cultural festival is Sunday

Wheeling Park District will host a community cultural fest Sunday, June 23, at Northside Park.

The event will feature activities that are meant to showcase the different cultures and ethnicities living in Wheeling. Participants may receive henna tattoos, watch a showcase of flags from different countries or enjoy performances from various groups.

The afternoon also will include a tae kwon do performance and a reggae band for people to enjoy.

The event is expected to draw 500 people from the immediate community and the surrounding Wheeling Township.

“We have this event to celebrate the diversity of Wheeling,” event organizer Elizabeth Robinson said.

The cultural fest runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, 200 N. 7th St.
