Glenbard program truly a treasure

Recently my wife and I had the pleasure of listening to highly sought after speaker, Stanford University’s Dr. Carol Dweck, talk at Glenbard West High School as part of the monthly Glenbard Parent Series, or GPS.

Dr. Dweck spoke eloquently and passionately to a packed auditorium containing parents, students, teachers, and community members about research as presented in her best-selling book “MINDSET — The Psychology of Success.” My wife and I felt privileged to be part of that audience. I have attended nearly all of the GPS programs over the past three years and enjoyed them all — although this session had a special engagement with the audience, as there was simply not enough time to answer all the questions that attendees had for this thought- and action-provoking speaker.

I try to attend as many of the GPS/Navigating Healthy Parenting programs as I can and always manage to take away real-world suggestions that benefit my family. If the speaker has materials, I take extra copies for my work colleagues who have proclaimed the materials to be excellent and are envious of the GPS program as they do not have anything like it in their community — at least not with the same quality of topics and speakers.

I want to publicly thank Glenbard District 87 for providing this wonderful free ongoing educational series, which adds so much to the quality of life in our Glenbard communities. GPS is a truly a treasure.
