Miller Caves to host concert this weekend
MILWAUKEE — For decades, the “Miller Caves” were used to store Miller beer before refrigeration.
Later, they were used as a bomb shelter for Miller employees and then repurposed as a museum, with Liberace even cutting the ribbon at the grand opening.
On Sunday, the caves take on another identity: a concert venue. Actor and musician John C. Reilly is playing two sold-out shows with his band “John Reilly and Friends.”
The caves were hand dug 60 feet underground for the “Watertown Plank Road Brewery” in 1849. It was later taken over by Frederick J. Miller and beer was stored there until 1906.
Capacity is 100 people.
Reilly is known for his roles in “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” “Boogie Nights” and “The Thin Red Line.”
