Used books needed for Lombard Area AAUW scholarship fund raising
It's book collection time for the Lombard Area American Association of University women (AAUW) annual used book sale to help the Lombard Area AAUW raise funds for scholarships. Used book barrels have been placed at various locations throughout Lombard – Mr. Z's Supermarkets, 401 S Main; Mayberry Cleaners, 200 S Westmore; Schroeder Ace Hardware, 837 S. Westmore; Ultra Foods, 491 E. Roosevelt; Shannon's Deli,11 S. Park; Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley and First Church of Lombard. Shoppers can easily donate used paperbacks or hard back books until Friday, August 2. Please donate only books in good condition. Commercially made DVDs, Blu-rays and CDs are also accepted. No school textbooks, encyclopedia sets, VHS videos or Reader's Digest will be accepted.
Book donations may also be taken to the AAUW “Drive up – Drop off” book location at the First Church of Lombard, 200 S. Main Street, Lombard, where AAUW members will unload books from cars in the church's parking lot on Ash Street. Drop off days are scheduled for Friday, July 26 and Thursday, August 1 from 5:30-8:30 PM and Saturday, July 27and Saturday, August 3 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Enter the First Church parking lot from Ash (just south of Maple St). Someone will be at the church's double glass doors to receive your book donation.
People who are unable to drive may contact the Lombard Area AAUW (630) 932-0224 to arrange for the pickup of books. This year's sale will be held August 7-10 at First Church of Lombard.
