Lombard Trinity Lutheran Celebrates Pastor's 50 Years in Ministry June 23

On Sunday, June 23, Trinity Lutheran Church of Lombard will mark a special milestone for long time pastor, Rev. Elton Heimsoth. The 50th anniversary of Rev. Elton Heimsoth's ministry as an ordained pastor of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod will be celebrated in the 9 a.m. worship service and followed by a reception in Trinity's parish hall. Members of the community are welcome to attend.

Rev. Heimsoth was ordained into pastoral ministry in 1963 after graduating from Concordia Theological Seminary, which was then located in Springfield, Illinois. He served as Trinity's sole pastor from 1971 through 1997, and as Senior Pastor from 1997 until his retirement in the summer of 1998. He emerged from retirement in October 1999 to fill the position of Vacancy Pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Westchester, where he served until February 2006. In 2008, Rev. Elton Heimsoth returned to Trinity to serve as Pastor Emeritus. In addition to his ongoing ministry at Trinity, Pastor Heimsoth continues to serve as Guest Pastor one weekend a month at Faith.
