Glen Ellyn Chorus Wins Area Competition

The Village Vocal Chords chorus (the “VVC”) has just returned from Harmony, Inc's Area 4 Competition, at which they came in first place, and qualified for the organization's upcoming international competition. The chorus will be traveling to Windsor, Ontario in November to compete with other qualifying choruses from across the US and Canada.

In addition, five quartets representing the VVC competed against other quartets based in the area which includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, and Wisconsin. They finished in first through fourth places, plus seventh. The top three quartets, “Spot On”, “Four Eyes”, and “The Karamels” will also be eligible to compete in Windsor this fall.

The chorus last competed in 2011, in Hershey, PA, where they became the organization's championship chorus for an unprecedented 18 times. Per HI's rules, the winning chorus cannot compete the following year, so they could not compete in 2012. They are looking forward to November, when they will try to keep their streak alive.

The Village Vocal Chords chorus is the Glen Ellyn-based chapter of Harmony, Inc., an international, nonprofit, and educational organization for women barbershop singers. They rehearse on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 pm, at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church, with members coming from all over the Chicagoland area. The chorus is always interested in expanding its membership, so, if you are a woman who loves to sing, they will help you “find your voice”.
