Waukegan Knights of Columbus to hold Wisconsin golf outing Saturday

The Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council 731 has announced the date of its third annual Father’s Day Golf Outing to be this Saturday. This year’s event once again will be held at the remodeled Big Oaks Golf Course in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and will include various contests, raffles and prizes. The event will be followed with a dinner that is included in the admission price.

The Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council 731 represents three Catholic parishes in Waukegan and North Chicago. With the support and generosity of local businesses, the Council raises over $25,000 annually for charitable area nonprofit organizations, including: Holy Family Food Pantry, Holy Family SPRED (religious education for the developmentally challenged), St. Dismas SPRED, Countryside Association, Ann M. Kiley Development Center, Haitian relief and Knights of Columbus Charities.

The focus for the Third Annual Father’s Day Golf Outing will be to raise money for Holy Family Food Pantry to assist Lake County families in need during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. In 2012, the Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council 731 partnered with Holy Family Food Pantry in an effort to bring holiday meals to local families. That partnership resulted in 400 families being able to celebrate the holiday season with a warm meal. The economic conditions the area is facing have not improved from last year. The goal is to sponsor 600 meals this year.

Donation opportunities for the event include hole sponsorship, with three different levels: Platinum at $500, which includes four complementary entries; Gold at $300, which includes two complementary entries; and Silver for $100.
