Maine East, South Elgin teachers honored by state

Teachers from Maine East and South Elgin high Schools are among 36 statewide who will be honored at a luncheon Tuesday by the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Education Association and the Illinois Federation of Teachers. The educators all earned awards for their work teaching specific subjects. Kimberly Greiwe was honored for teaching dance at Maine East High School, Park Ridge. Alison Upton-Dunmore Star was honored for teaching economics at South Elgin High School. “They are tireless in their pursuit of finding ways to help ensure students are learning and succeeding,” State Superintendent of Education Christopher Koch said of the honorees in a news release. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to extend our thanks and appreciation for their commitment to Illinois’ students and education.”
