Bank robber strikes again, this time in Lombard

Authorities say the man who robbed a Lombard bank Thursday is likely the same one who robbed a similar facility Sunday in Aurora.

The latest robbery occurred about noon at a TCF Bank inside the Jewel-Osco store at 1177 S. Main St., according to the FBI and Lombard police.

The suspect approached the teller, implied he had a weapon, and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

No injuries were reported.

FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde said investigators think the robbery is connected to the one that took place about 4:15 p.m. Sunday at a TCF Bank inside a Jewel store at 1157 N. Eola Road in Aurora.

In that robbery, the suspect also implied he had a weapon while demanding cash, then took the money and ran out a vestibule on the south side of the store.

The suspect in both cases was described as a white man in his mid-20s, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing roughly 170 pounds.

In the first robbery, he was wearing a white and black bandanna and a black hooded sweatshirt with a Chicago Blackhawks logo on the front.

In the second robbery, he was wearing a black hat and black hooded sweatshirt with no logo.

In both cases he was wearing black sunglasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
