Lumineers, Matt & Kim to headline Lollapalooza aftershows

Lollapalooza three-day tickets are all sold out, but the aftershows are just springing to life. The musical behemoth Tuesday announced the official lineup for bands performing sets in smaller, more intimate venues after the main festivities have died down.

The weekend of music starts early this year with sets by Imagine Dragons Wednesday night, July 31, at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., and Thievery Corporation at the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St. Lana Del Ray and Atlas Genius continue the music Thursday, Aug. 1, at the House of Blues and Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave., respectively.

The bigger sets start Friday, Aug. 2, as the Lumineers headline at the Vic Theatre, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., and Foals rock the Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave. Saturday brings Band of Horses to the Metro, Matt & Kim to the Vic Theatre and Frightened Rabbit to the Park West. Sunday’s shows include Wavves at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., and Alt-J at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave.

Most shows begin at 10 p.m., just as the Lollapalooza acts are winding down, and run between $15 and $30. Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7. Check Lollapalooza.com for a full lineup.
