Apologizes for late cancellation of event

To all those who came out to have their hearing tested on Saturday, May 11th, in downtown Barrington, I want to sincerely apologize for the late cancellation of the event.

The Lions of Illinois Mobile Hearing Van did arrive, but due to the lack of the proper power hookup we were unable to run the equipment. After an hour’s search to find a generator with 220 volt-50 amp service we could not secure one. It was at that time, that I, personally, called the event to a halt.

In other words, I didn’t have a Plan B in place. In frustration, I took down the signs, bid the driver goodbye and left the scene. I now know I should have remained and answered any questions.

Again, I want to apologize to all concerned for not being able to provide the free hearing screening. I promise to reschedule the mobile unit for a future date and will provide notice beforehand along with the proper power source!

In the meantime, the mobile van will be at the Nursing Rehabilitation Center, 50 Pleasant Ave., in Highwood, on May 29. On Saturday, June 1, the unit is scheduled at the Interfaith Food Pantry, 1113 Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills.
