Please don’t toss flag out with the trash

Just the other day while on my annual large-item throw-out trip up in the North Shore area with a close friend who lives in that community, we observed among the other discarded items many small American flags all rolled up and thrown in a pile. As I exited my vehicle to retrieve them, another family saved them and took them.

The American flag is not just another rag to be dumped! The flag must be by law properly disposed of and usually at the assistance of an area veterans post, many of which at times offer an American flag drop-off as we do at our post. Let’s all remember what those colors stand for before anyone takes the time again to throw our flag out with the trash. Red for courage, blue for integrity, white for purity. Thank you.
