Arlington Heights seeks nominations for senior award

The Arlington Heights Senior Citizens Commission is seeking nominations by June 1 for the annual “Kenneth Hood Senior Service Award.”

Nominees should exhibit a history of service to the senior community and they must reside, work or volunteer in Arlington Heights.

The Kenneth Hood Service Award was created in 2008 when, on his 100th birthday, Hood challenged those attending his celebration to pick up his “torch of service to Arlington Heights’ Senior Citizens.”

Prior recipients of the Kenneth Hood Award include Jack Schimpf, honored posthumously; and Shirley Garrison, 2009, Frank De Rosa, 2010 and Joe Cesario, 2011 and Jack Hanahan in 2012.

Applications can be found online at the village’s website, www.vah.com.
