Train kills man in Prospect Hts.

A 51-year-old Mount Prospect man was killed at 9:44 a.m. Tuesday when he was struck by a Metra train near the Prospect Heights Metra Station near Wolf Road and Euclid Avenues, Prospect Heights Police Chief Jamie Dunne said in a press release.

Initial reports indicate the man jumped in front of the moving train on the North Central line to Antioch, the release said.

The outbound train was delayed more than an hour, and an inbound train was delayed 30 minutes, according to a Metra spokeswoman.

The man’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives and Metra investigators are looking into his death, police said. Information about the death would not be available until Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
