Schaumburg police warn of strong-arm robberies

Schaumburg police Tuesday issued a community alert after a pair of strong-arm robberies occurred on the northwest side of the village during the previous few days.

At 11:50 a.m. Saturday, a 28-year-old woman was walking on the 1900 block of Windsong Drive. A man passed her, then turned and pushed her to the ground. The man grabbed two gold necklaces from the woman’s neck and ran away.

He was described as black, approximately 18 years old and 5 feet 7 inches tall with a husky build and short black hair. He wore a white sleeveless shirt and white shorts and had a large tattoo on his right arm or shoulder.

At 8:50 a.m. Monday, a 54-year-old woman was walking along the 2300 block of Good Speed Lane. In this attack, too, the victim was grabbed by a man who yanked a gold chain from her neck. He was described as black, approximately 20 to 25 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build and partially shaved hair. He wore a blue short-sleeve T-shirt with red writing and ran from the scene with another person only described as a white male.

Neither victim was physically injured, but Schaumburg police are advising residents to remain vigilant of their surroundings as well as of any people who seem suspicious. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call police at (847) 882-3534.
