Gurnee police checkpoint:

Gurnee police will look for impaired drivers while promoting seat belt use Friday night in a special crackdown. Gurnee cops, with assistance from the Secretary of State police and Lake County Sheriff’s Office, will conduct a roadside safety checkpoint in the 5300 block of Grand Avenue/Route 132 starting about 10 p.m. Friday, May 24. Police said the effort should continue into the early hours Saturday. The safety checkpoint is conducted in an effort to promote seat belt use and to ensure drivers are operating their motor vehicles in a safe and sober manner.
