Des Plaines Elementary District 62 will conduct a community open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to show off renovations and improvements made at Orchard Place Elementary School, 2727 Maple St., Des Plaines.

The school's new wing features Technology Integrated Learning Environments, classrooms, a multipurpose room, cafeteria, and a renovated playground. The school, originally built in 1947, underwent many infrastructure improvements as part of District 62's Master Plan, including the renovation of classrooms, school entrances, changes to traffic patterns and parking, and stormwater management upgrades.

Orchard Place was one of three schools renovated during the last phase of a three-year, $109 million comprehensive facilities plan.
