Time for marriage equality in Illinois

I am writing to thank both state Sen. Melinda Bush and state Rep. Sam Yingling for being a co-sponsor on SB 10, the marriage equality bill.

As a person who now just come out of the closet, I would like to have the chance to be able to one day meet someone who maybe, just maybe, I could spend the rest of my life with. And ask his hand in marriage.

This is the very same chance that so many men and women are having right now.

State Rep. Ed Sullivan said it best of why he supporting this bill. He said “It’s the right thing to do.” The people’s voice has been heard. Now is the time for the Illinois House to do the “right thing” and vote yes on SB 10. Not next year, or later down the road, now’s the time to make Illinois the 14th state in the nation to allow marriage equality.
