Fire falls 1-0 to Union
CHESTER, Pa. — Jack McInerney scored his league-leading eighth goal in the third minute, and the Philadelphia Union made it stand up in a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Fire on Saturday night.
McInerney headed home a corner kick from Sebastien Le Toux for Philadelphia (5-4-3), which beat the Fire 1-0 for the second time in a week.
The Union also earned a 1-0 triumph at Toyota Park last Saturday.
The Fire played short-handed for much of the second half after Wells Thompson received his second yellow card — and an automatic ejection — in the 62nd.
The Fire (2-7-1) lost its third game in a row and fell to 0-4-1 on the road.
The Union improved to 2-2-2 at home with its first victory in Philadelphia since a 1-0 win over New England on March 16.
