Littleton carries big bat for Grayslake North

Grayslake North sophomore Sarah Littleton played big in the crosstown rivalry game.

Littleton doubled twice and knocked in a run, as Grayslake North edged visiting Grayslake Central 7-5 in the teams’ Fox Valley Conference Fox Division game Wednesday.

Grayslake North also received 2 hits apiece from Jordyn Bowen (double, 2 RBI, 2 runs) and Maddie Terlap.

Grayslake Central got a 2-for-3 effort from Jamie Brew.

Stevenson 7, Vernon Hills 5: Taylor Koenigs joined the Homer Over the Fence club at Stevenson.

The Patriots sophomore became just the sixth player — and fourth this season — to hit an over-the-fence home run at Stevenson. Koenigs’ 2-run shot tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the fifth.

Abby O’Connor’s 2-run double in the sixth provided the winning margin for Stevenson (15-13). It was the second double of the North Suburban Conference for O’Connor (3-for-3). Koenigs (3 RBI, 2 runs) and Sara Loerch (3 runs) each finished 2-for-3. Loerch and freshman Trisha Porzycki each tripled, while the Patriots also got doubles from Koenigs and Morgan Manka.

Winning pitcher Sam Feder struck out nine and allowed 4 earned runs.

Vernon Hills (7-14) got triples from Jenn Claussen and Danielle Comitor. Claussen added a double and 2 RBI.

Mundelein 5, Wauconda 4: Maggie Mahar was 3-for-3, as the Mustangs captured the North Suburban crossover.

Haley Morelli went 2-for-4 for Mundelein (23-10), while Chloe Peterson doubled.

Wauconda (18-12) got a home run from Lexie Redmann and doubles from freshmen Kayla Wedl and Brooke Sefcik.

Lake Zurich 11, Antioch 1: Maria Schroeder homered, singled stole a base, scored twice and drove in 4 runs for the host Bears in the North Suburban crossover.

Lake Zurich (17-9) got a 3-for-3 performance from Caty Grahf, who had a triple. Brittney Pettinger (double) and Katie Brown (1-for-3, 2 stolen bases, run, RBI) also delivered at the plate, while Olivia Schneider threw 4 innings for the win.

Antioch (19-11) had its five game winning streak snapped.

Libertyville 3, Lakes 2: Izzy Alesna went 3-for-3 with a double and all 3 RBI for the Wildcats in the North Suburban crossover.

Tayler Oberman had a triple for Libertyville, and Michaela Mooney did not allow an earned run in her complete-game effort in the circle. Mooney struck out seven.
