Fire-damaged restaurant reopens as Brandy's in Hanover Park

More than six months after a fire closed Chiggy's restaurant in Hanover Park, a different restaurant is carving up the gyro meat once again.

Brandy's, a sister establishment that's been around since 1984, opened last week at 1921 W. Irving Park Road.

“The menu is pretty much the same,” owner Sam Dakis said. “We're famous for our chicken kebabs and gyros.”

Dakis, who also owned Chiggy's, said the restaurant had to be completely remodeled after a cook accidentally forgot to turn off the oven last November. He decided to reopen as Brandy's, which also has two locations in Chicago and another on Oakton Street in Des Plaines, to streamline the operations.

He hopes diners will appreciate the updated decor, enthusiastic staff and ability to order online at brandysgyros.com.

Dakis said the extensive menu specializes in authentic Greek cuisine including patisio, souvlakia and baklava.

Hours at the Hanover Park location are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
