Summer is smart time to boost student grades, test scores

Summer vacation is usually a time to relax and kick back for many students, but increasingly, summer is a good time to revitalize study habits, enhance test taking proficiency and getting a head start on next year's school curriculum.

To get kids ready for the next school year, Glenview's ClubZ! In-Home Tutoring Services Is holding a “Learning Summer Camp” where tutors provide in-home one-on-one instruction. From July 15 until August 10, 2013, students from all grades will be able to hone their school skills at home.

Students in preK-6 will receive advanced tutoring in reading, math and study/organizational skills. Those in 7th to 9th grade will be tutored in reading, math and science. Students in grades 10-11 will study the exact curriculum they will tackle in the coming year, as well as preparation for the all-important SAT/ACT tests.

“We invite students and families to experience a free in-home consulting session where initial evaluations can be made in core curriculums or take a sample ACT/SAT test to gauge readiness,” said Hank Song, president of ClubZ! In-Home Turing Services. Song notes that the summer session fills up quickly.
