Dundee Township Rotary Club awards $30,000 in scholarships

The Dundee Township Rotary Club recently awarded $30,000 in scholarships to 19 students attending Dundee-Crown High School-Carpentersville, Harry D. Jacobs High School-Algonquin, St. Edward Central Catholic High School-Elgin, and Elgin Academy. Since 1981, the Club has now awarded over $715,000 in scholarships to area students who live in Dundee Township.

This year’s scholarship recipients were:

• Otto Engineering Scholarship: $1,000 Engineering - Kyle DeAtley, Jacobs;

• Dundee Township Rotary Interact Club Scholarship: $1,000 Merit - Megan Simpson, Jacobs;

• Dundee Township Visitor’s Center Scholarship: $1,500 Academic -Sarah Bowen, Dundee-Crown;

• Bob Morency Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 Vocational: Evelyn Zaborska-Gonzalez, Dundee-Crown;

• Bob Morency Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 Academic - Jeremy Wodka, Dundee-Crown;

• Bob Morency Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 Merit - Tess Waldron, Dundee-Crown

• Bob Morency Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 Academic - Austin Fry,, Dundee-Crown

• Stig P. Orum Memorial Scholarship: $1,500 Environmental - Ian Pattison, St. Edward Central Catholic;

• Stig P. Orum Memorial Scholarship: $1,500 Environmental - Kevin Dispensa, Dundee-Crown;

• Emerson Crocker Memorial Fine Arts Scholarship: $2,000 Fine Arts - Tessa Dettman, Dundee-Crown;

• Harvey & Ethel Daeumer Foundation Scholarship: $2,500 Academic - Eleanor Oskorep, Dundee-Crown;

• Harvey & Ethel Daeumer Foundation Scholarship: $2,500 Academic - Tiffany Fang, Jacobs;

• EFS Foundation Scholarships: $1,000 Vocational - Kelsey Zeller, Dundee-Crown;

• EFS Foundation Scholarships: $2,000 Vocational -Sanjuana Solis, Dundee-Crown;

• EFS Foundation Scholarships: $2,000 Academic - Zoya Din, Jacobs;

• EFS Foundation Scholarships: $2,500 Academic - Jennifer Rodriguez, Dundee-Crown;

• EFS Foundation Scholarships: $2,500 Academic - Brenton Bartelt, Dundee-Crown;

• Bruce David Memorial Scholarship: $1,500 Vocational - Jacqueline Duarte, Dundee-Crown;

• John Brittain Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 Academic - Beck Blair, Elgin Academy.

Scholarship committee members are: chair Dr. Melisa Rothenberger, Barb Christie, Kristin Corriveau, Pat Gibbs, Curt McReynolds, Sandy Morganstein, Colleen Thomas and Al Treml.
