Naperville Central wins again in DVC

Naperville Central 5, Naperville North 1:The Redhawks (19-5, 14-3) scored 4 runs in the top of the sixth and added a run in the seventh to win their second straight DuPage Valley Conference game against Naperville North (14-9, 10-7). Nicky Lopez went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Pat Maloney was the winning pitcher in relief of Cody Campbell. Nick Solak went 3-for-3 for the second straight day for the Huskies.Lake Park 2, South Elgin 0:Christian Taugner improved to 7-1 for the Lancers (21-6, 17-3), firing a 5-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks as Lake Park maintained its lead atop the Upstate Eight Conference Valley standings. Dom Romito#146;s single in the bottom of the sixth drove in Tom Spear and Anthony Gallina with the game#146;s only runs. Glenbard East 9, WW South 6:The Rams (11-18, 7-10) scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 6-6 tie and notch their fourth straight DuPage Valley Conference victory. Nick Vichio went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI while Danny Ryan went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI. Winning pitcher D.J. Spears also had 2 RBI. Matt Walsh homered for WW South (15-11, 10-7).Glenbard South 9, Illiana Christian 4:The Raiders (15-7, 11-4) salvaged the third and final game of the Metro Suburban Conference series. Will Cornwell went 3-for-4 while Justin Joseph went 2-for-3. Winning pitcher Nick Yangas struck out 10 in 6-plus innings.Willowbrook 4, Glenbard West 3:In the bottom of the seventh, Gabe Gage was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in R.L. Aldridge with the game-winning run. Gage went 3-for-3 while Dom Battaglia had a pair of hits. Rob Huette picked up the win in relief. Luke Domask and Grant Greeno had 2 hits apiece for Glenbard West (11-15).Timothy Christian 11, Elmwood Park 4:The Trojans (5-14, 5-11) took two out of three in the Metro Suburban Conference series after scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Emerson Bandemer, Justin VanderNaald and Ben Zastrow, who homered, each went 2-for-3. Cole Miller drove in 3 runs. Mike Wieringa was the winning pitcher. Hinsdale Central 12, Addison Trail 1:Four runs in the top of the fifth inning helped end the West Suburban Conference crossover early for the victorious Red Devils (13-10). Justice Camalick went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Winning pitcher Tom Concklin allowed 2 hits and struck out five.Downers North 12, Leyden 1:Connor Kopach and Joe Provenzano each went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI as the Trojans (17-7) rolled to the West Suburban crossover victory. Matt Bohanon picked up the win by scattering 4 hits over 5 innings.Downers South 15, Proviso West 0:Zack Burdi went 3-for-3 with 2 homers and 4 RBI in leading the Mustangs (24-5) to the five-inning West Suburban crossover win. Kevin Raher also drove in 4 runs. Chris Pedrak and Matt Zinnecker combined on the mound. Notre Dame 4, Benet 3:The Redwings (15-7, 6-4) rallied from a 2-0 deficit, but Notre Dame scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the East Suburban Catholic Conference victory. Chris Whelan and Joe Giuffre went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Dwight 6, Lisle 5:Ryan Van Volkenburg went 3-for-4 with a double for the Lions (14-9, 9-5), but Dwight scored all its runs in the first two innings to win the Interstate Eight Conference game. Adam Grego had 2 RBI.
