AIT Worldwide Logistics kicks off springtime with Community Appreciation Barbecue

ITASCA, ILLINOIS – In response to an invitation extended by AIT Worldwide Logistics President and CEO Vaughn Moore, Village of Itasca Mayor Jeff Pruyn led a delegation of civil servants and elected officials to spend their lunch hour at a Community Appreciation Barbecue hosted by the company on Thursday, April 25. Held at the company's 701 N. Rohlwing Road global headquarters, AIT co-workers and municipal representatives were all treated to a complimentary lunchtime smorgasbord featuring hot dogs and burgers hot off the grill.

Afterwards, Moore commented, “We took the opportunity to include our local government officials as a way to say 'thank you'. Our company strives to forge integrated partnerships with our customers, so we are particularly grateful to be based in a community led by village personnel who approach our relationship with the spirit of collaboration.”

Many AIT corporate managers, directors and officers assisted with the grilling duties including Chicago Station Manager Steve Giampapa, Director of Regulatory Affairs & Security Sandy Gregory, Human Resources Director Will Isherwood, Director of Legal Administration and Risk Management Ryan Lanterman, Information Systems Director Chris McMillan and Sheri Stover, Vice President of Administration.

"This was a great way to start the summer!" said Mayor Pruyn, who enjoyed his grilled fare with Moore, Community Services Officer Walt Burzynski and Environmental Services Coordinator Fred Maier.

Village Clerk Melody Craven remarked, "The food was delicious and it was good to meet Vaughn and Joe [Kayser, Executive Vice President, Finance]."

The village's IT Director, Dan Corcoran, summed up by saying, "The food and company were great. It was nice learning more about AIT and putting faces to some of the names that we hear about here. We look forward to working on other projects together in the future!"
