Street Theatre performs “The Ransom of Emily Jane”
The whole family can enjoy free theatrical performances throughout Schaumburg this summer.
Schaumburg Park District Street Theatre will begin at 7 p.m., June 3 at Addams School, 700 S. Springinsguth Road, with performances of “The Ransom of Emily Jane.”
The play begins with rambunctious Emily Jane Dorset being kidnapped. The town gossips murmur “poor little tyke” and rejoice in the unaccustomed peace and quiet her absence brings. The “poor little tyke” is having the time of her life terrorizing her mild-mannered, inexperienced kidnappers, whose ransom demands grow smaller and smaller as Emily Jane's pranks grow wilder. In the finale, an unusual bargain is struck and Emily Jane is returned to the reluctant arms of her father.
Street Theatre performs every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. at locations throughout the District. This year's performances will also include pre-show entertainment from 6:30 to 7 p.m. from the Schaumburg Community Singers.
