Vista Health System honors its volunteers at luncheon

The volunteer services at Vista Health System donated 19,055 hours in time and talent to Vista's two hospitals and multiple outpatient facilities. This exceptional contribution was recognized recently at the annual Vista Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at Glen Flora Country Club in Waukegan. More than 80 Vista volunteers attended the event that was hosted by Barbara Martin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vista.

“We can't thank you enough for your support and dedication that touches every area of Vista,” Martin said to the luncheon crowd. “This is one small way that we can show our appreciation for all that you do for us every day—not only at Vista Medical Center East and Vista Medical Center West — but also in all of our other facilities in Lake County.”

Vista's volunteer services includes members of all ages — high school teenagers who help out after school, adults with available time to give, and senior citizens who want to stay active and involved in their retirement years. Regardless of age or background, their service and support are vital to the quality of care that Vista provides to patients.

“It would take me too long to list all of the positions and responsibilities that you do every day,” Martin said. “Your generosity and enthusiasm toward giving back to the community is priceless. Having worked in many hospital systems in my career, I can say from experience that our volunteer group at Vista is truly outstanding.”

Receiving special recognition at this year's luncheon for the most hours donated in 2012 were Joseph Sojka (668 hours), Jackie Peterson (669 hours), and Bob Nimits (1,165 hours).
