Allen, Stevenson wrench a victory from Lake Zurich

Matt Allen pitched like an ace again for Stevenson’s baseball team Tuesday.

The senior right-hander pitched a complete game, and Willie Bourbon belted a home run, to lead the Patriots to a 9-2 win over visiting Lake Zurich in North Suburban Lake Division action.

Mitchell Goll (3-for-4, 2 runs), Tony Heiser (3-for-4, 2 RBI), Zach Novoselsky (2-for-3) and Joey Olker (double) also had big days at the plate for Stevenson (14-8).

The only 2 runs Allen allowed were unearned. He struck out six, walked only one and surrendered 6 hits.

Anthony Drago had a double for Lake Zurich.

Mundelein 15, Zion-Benton 0: Mitch Schulewitz improved to 8-0 with a five-inning 1-hitter, as the Mustangs improved to 22-2 and 8-1 in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Schulewitz, who struck out six, also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Logan Reckert was 2-for-2 with a double for Mundelein, which scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. Will Farmer and Bennett Wiese also doubled. Luke Adams added a 2-for-3 effort for the Mustangs.

Round Lake 12, North Chicago 1: Winning pitcher Ryan Newman helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI for the visiting Panthers in the North Suburban Prairie Division contest.

Jalen Young was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI for Round Lake, and Zach Pick contributed a single and 2 RBI.

Libertyville 4, Lake Forest 2: Evan Skoug’s home run accounted for one of the Wildcats’ 4 hits in the North Suburban Lake contest.

Skoug had 2 RBI, while Matt Vogt and Kevin Calamari also drove in runs. Jeff Barton earned the win.

Antioch 12, Vernon Hills 2: Nick Muskat went 3-for-3 with a triple and 6 RBI, David Meade improved to 4-1, and Matt DeJong was 4-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI for the Sequoits in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Antioch got doubles from Cameron Slate, Adam Harvey and Mitch Everett.

Meade (1.36 ERA) pitched all 5 innings, allowing 4 hits while striking out nine. Vernon Hills starter Tyler Feece was chased in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jordan Freibrun had the lone RBI for the Cougars.

Grant 3, Lakes 2 (9 innings): Luke Lostroscio got his second win for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Grant (14-8) was led offensively by Ryan Noda, who was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and an RBI. Jake Ring went 2-for-4 with 2 singles, a sacrifice bunt and run scored.

Dan Jackson hit 2-for-4 for Lakes (8-14, 5-4). Kyle Vanderwall hit a solo home run.

Grayslake Central 11, Woodstock North 5: The host Rams banged out 12 hits as they won their eighth straight and improved their record to 19-8.

Kyle Balling (triple, double) and Ryan Fontana (double) had 3 hits apiece. Balling also had 3 RBI. Jay Hoffman added a pair of hits for the Rams, who scored 8 hits in the third inning.

Kevin Peloza fanned 5 over his 3 innings of work to pick up his fourth victory against no losses.
