Palatine teen accused of shooting at group

A 17-year-old boyfrom Palatine has been charged as a juvenile for unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after he fired two shots in the direction of three teens in a parking lot on the 1300 block of North Ports O’Call Drive in Palatine.

Palatine police said the boy shouted gang slogans at three teens ages 16, 17 and 18 and then fired two shots in their direction about 9:10 p.m. April 26.

Police said the victims, who called 911, and the shooter had a disagreement over a stolen iPhone.

Police didn’t recover a weapon but found two unspent .25-caliber rounds of ammunition on the sidewalk. Police said detectives eventually located the suspect, who was identified in a lineup.
